Virtual Senior Academy

Project Description

Over the past two years, JHF has invested in seeding the development of an innovative technology solution to increase feelings of connection and social engagement among seniors. In August 2017, JHF launched the Virtual Senior Academy, a web-based program aimed at providing seniors with live, interactive classes on a variety of topics using video conferencing technology.

The Virtual Senior Academy connects seniors, many of whom are facing a decline in mobility and access to in-person activities, to an easy to use web-based platform that allows them to engage with peers and facilitators, expand their social networks, stimulate life-long learning, and increase their comfort with technology by improving their digital literacy. The Virtual Senior Academy is designed for maximum engagement, utilizing a video conferencing solution called Zoom.
